Ayurveda : The Science of Life

Ayurveda signifies the science of Life or Longevity. Ayuh: life, Veda: knowledge.

Ayurveda is based on its own unique principles, diagnostics, therapeutics and materia medica, largely of herbo-mineral origin.

Herbal mixtures have been used in India and around the world for thousands of years as therapeutic agents to prevent and treat diseases. Ayurvedic formulations called Rasayanas are herbal mixtures that stimulate overall health. The herbs generally contain a variety of polyphenols, bioflavonoids, catechins, and carotenoids, as well as vitamin C, vitamin E, and a large number of low molecular weight compounds. These chemical constituents have a wide variety of biological activities, including antioxidant, lipid-lowering, fibrinolytic, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and anti-allergy and many other biological activities.

Ayurveda essentially prioritises the promotion of good health, prevention of diseases and longevity. Its approach is holistic and pro-nature and its remedies are largely nutraceutical and are safe to use.
